Fall Outing 2016-17 took place in Omaha with a theme of “Discover yourself while learning about the Spanish Culture”. This activity included a trip to El Museo Latino to explore Spanish artwork and a performance of a Spanish dance group. Viewing of the movie “No Ordinary Hero: The SuperDeafy Movie” brought on good discussion about self esteem and being true to yourself.
Once a year, grades 7-12 get together for either a fall outing or a spring fling. These activities have covered a variety of learning opportunities including Art & Soul cooking, Deaf Awareness, Fitness Frenzy, Ashfall Fossil Beds, and Survivor. The connections between deaf and hard of hearing peers at this age last a lifetime.
